Nelson County was created by the Dakota Territory Legislature on March 2nd, 1883, from unorganized areas, in addition to, areas annexed from Foster, Grand Forks & Ramsey counties. Currently, there are seven incorporated cities and twenty-seven organized townships within the county. A beautiful countryside landscape littered with rolling hills, fields, lakes and ponds with numerous employment opportunities, various recreational activities and peaceful small-town living.
